How To

How to make the perfect omelet

Omelets are one of my favorite foods to eat at breakfast. How can you make them perfectly? There are many recipes and methods I tried, but none worked. So today, I want to share some tips and tricks with you so you can make your own delicious and fluffy omelets every morning.

First, eggs can be very temperamental ingredients for making omelets. It is important that eggs are fresh from an organic market and kept cool until used. The yolks and whites will not form properly if they aren't kept cold enough. This causes your omelets to look oddly colored. It is best to use room-temperature eggs if you are going to cook them right away.

Another tip is to separate your egg before adding it into the pan. You don't want the white to get mixed with the yolk, as this could cause the egg to curdle.

The egg can burn if it is placed directly on the stovetop. Instead, put the egg in the microwave for 10 seconds before putting it into the pan. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Let's now talk about mixing eggs. When you mix eggs together, you want to beat them well. To do this, take the bowl from the mixer and flip it upside-down. Next, shake the bowl vigorously. This way, the air inside the bowl gets whipped around and mixes the egg thoroughly.

The fun part is now - adding the milk to the mixture. Pour half the milk into the beaten egg mixture and then fold in the eggs. You don't need to worry if streaks remain. They will disappear once you flip your omelet.

After folding the eggs, place the pan on medium heat and wait for the oil to start sizzling. When the oil is hot enough, add 1/4 cup butter to the pan. Stir it around until the butter covers the entire pan. The lid should be carefully opened. Sprinkle salt in the pan. An additional pinch of salt will prevent the omelet form sticking to your pan.

Cover the pan once the omelet is formed and allow it to cool completely. Flip the omelet with a spatula, or flip it upside down. Cook the other side for another minute or two. Take the omelet out of the pan and immediately serve.

This recipe works best using whole milk. Skimmed milk is also possible.
