How To

How to make a perfect Omelette

Omelets are a favorite breakfast food of mine. How can you make them perfectly? I've tried many different methods and recipes, but none of them seem to work! So today, I want to share some tips and tricks with you so you can make your own delicious and fluffy omelets every morning.

First, eggs can be very temperamental ingredients for making omelets. The eggs must be fresh from an organic source and kept at room temperature until they are ready to be cooked. They must be kept cool, otherwise the whites will not form properly and the yolks may become runny. This makes your omelets look weirdly colored. If you're going to cook them immediately, it is best if the eggs are still warm.

Another tip is to separate your egg before adding it into the pan. The yolk and white should not be mixed together as this can cause the omelet's curdle.

You might burn the bottom of the egg if you place the egg directly on the stovetop. This could ruin the texture of your omelet. Instead, heat the egg in a microwave for 10 seconds and then place it in a pan. The microwave heat cooks the eggs just right without overcooking them.

Next, let's talk about mixing the eggs. You want to mix the eggs thoroughly before you add them. You need to turn the bowl of the mixer upside down. Then, vigorously shake the bowl. By doing this, the egg is thoroughly mixed with the air in the bowl.

Now comes the fun part: adding the milk to your mixture. Fold the eggs in the milk mixture by first pouring half of it into the egg whites. You don't need to worry if streaks remain. They will disappear once you flip your omelet.

After you have folded your eggs, heat up the oil on medium heat. Wait for it to get hot. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Next, carefully open the lid and sprinkle salt into your pan. Salt will prevent the omelet sticking to the pan.

Cover the pan once you have formed the omelet. Wait for the top to set. Use a spatula to flip the omelet or turn the pan upside-down. Cook the other side for another minute or two. Take the omelet out of the pan and immediately serve.

This recipe works best with whole milk, but skimmed milk also works.
